I used to watch my grandmother make these around Christmas time as a little girl. She always set some aside for me because she knew they were my favorite! As I grew older, I began to help her make them. Now that I am a parent, I have carried on my grandmother’s tradition by making them for my family at Christmas.
You will love these – I promise! They are delicious, and extremely quick and easy to make. But prepare yourself.. they are addictive. Try not to let your family eat all of them in one day.
Ingredients
- 6 c Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 c creamy peanut butter
- 12 oz pkg butterscotch chips
Instructions
- Add cereal to a large mixing bowl; set aside.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, add peanut butter and stir for 30 seconds. Add butterscotch chips and stir constantly until chips have melted.
- Pour butterscotch mixture over cereal and gently stir with wooden spoon until combined. Let cool for a few minutes then drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper. Cool until set and enjoy!

You may also make these into Rice Krispie treats by adding to a 9×13 buttered dish.
Sounds so good and simple. My kind of recipe. Thanks!
They are insanely simple to make! Seriously about 5 minutes and you’re done. 🙂
I appreciate this recipe. It’s original. Some of the recipes for these childhood treats also add sugar and corn syrup. Yuk! Makes my teeth hurt just to think about it! Thank you!
